Hine is the named after the artists great aunt, who was named by a Māori chief in Waimate when she was born, a friendship made between Melissa's great grandfather and his neighbour - a Pakeha and Māori bond - respect and great care has been taken to create this piece that reflects a child like fondness of something very precious - friendship.
